The NOAN Idea

The original idea behind NOAN was to give support to socially and economically disadvantaged children.  The resulting concept for a social enterprise eventually grew out of a desire to give children, through education, the chance of a better and more secure future.  It has the added advantage of promoting fair trade and sustainable business practices.

Our future-oriented business concept: through the transfer of know-how, and by paying fair prices to the farmers in our source countries, we can guarantee the outstanding quality of our organic products. We have taken on the challenge of using only the best products, produced under optimum conditions, to supply a discerning international clientèle.
Apart from conforming to conventional methods of quality assurance, NOAN also adheres to the "NOAN Six". This pioneering concept of social responsibility is based on the following six pillars: "Organically Made, Fair Made, Clean Made, For Health, For Enjoyment, For Responsible Giving ". This means that NOAN relies exclusively on organic farming and on fair co-operation with regional farmers. Moreover, only environmentally friendly and healthy methods of production are used. Finally, NOAN gives all its proceeds to educational projects for needy children and young people, bringing together the realms of direct trade and direct donation.

Who is behind the NOAN Project?

The family-owned company, founded in 2009, comprises not just the core team working with the founders Margit and Richard Schweger, but also a number of highly qualified external professionals from the world of olive oil,  and naturally also our olive farmers. In addition to first-class organic quality, sustainability and fair trade, one of NOAN’s main concerns is to lay the foundation for the future.  We believe we can contribute to this by providing access to knowledge, as a path to a better future, to those to whom education has been denied for social or economic reasons.   The name NOAN, inspired by two children, ties in with the company’s objectives:  it is made up of the first two letters of the names Noah and Anouk, the children of NOAN’s founders.

We believe that education for children and young people, especially for those from disadvantaged backgrounds, is the most sustainable path to a secure future. That is why we generate recurring profits from the sale of our oils and vinegars and put them towards a good cause. Our entire net proceeds, or a minimum of 10% of our sales turnover, are given every year as direct donations to projects for needy children and young people.  At least 50% of the total amount donated remains in the markets in which the profit was generated.   The remaining amount goes into a supraregional pot to support projects in countries where NOAN is not currently economically active. Since NOAN’s inception, a total of € 192.860,- has been collected and donated.

From "Organically Made" to "Responsible Giving", NOAN’s goal, using environmentally friendly production methods, is to generate recurring revenues which in turn are donated to educational projects for children in need.

Thus NOAN is the perfect symbiosis of exquisite gourmet delicacies and transparent support.
